1. I feel my art style focuses on learning realism while giving an artistic or painterly look. I love using muted colors and adding bright hints of colors in highlights and shadows. I define success as an artist as creating a piece of art that makes you happy and feel some way. There are many different types of art but I feel like the most successful and meaningful pieces I've seen are the ones with a story or the art that makes you think. Important skills I learning growing up doing art is used in all my art today and I wouldn't know as much as I do now if it wasn't for all the in and out of school classes I have taken to learn and study art more. Something I've learned through art is that its suppose to be fun and enjoyable and not always stressful to finish projects. Art can be taken so many different ways and have endless meanings. It's a great way to express your feelings and share it with other people.
2. Two mini projects that we did that I fel was really beneficial was the acrylic painting practice and colored pencil practice. I feel that just every time I use acrylic I learn more about how to better work with the paint. I love trying different styles of painting when practicing with acrylics and this was another chance to. The cupcake I painted had lots of different colors and a berry on top for me to practice painting. For the colored pencil project I'm glad we did this one. I don't use colored pencil often and I feel like it shows in my blending and color choices. However this project taught me more about how to draw and work with colored pencil just like the acrylic practice. 3. I would say my favorite media we worked with this semester was the clay and being able to paint the clay. I'm not personally a huge fan of working with clay but this time I loved the idea of recreating a food as a projet. I knew I wanted to make something with multiple pieces and so I individually sculpted ever little fruit. Once they were out of the kiln I payed close attention to all the small details when painting and then I glazed them for a glossy finish. Some fruit is as easy to sculpt as rolling a little ball or more complicated with lots of texture. Painting the clay i feel worked better then glazing because I was able to get and know exactly what colors I was using. 4. I think I could have done better on the landscape painting. Most of the art I do is with some form of paint and I was not as happy with this piece as I have been with others. It's incomplete and I still haven't figured out what exactly I need to do to make this piece look better. The texture i'm using with all the green in the backround causes the whole painting to blend together. I think that If I did this again I would double check my color palette choice and make sure its the best option for the landscape. I would focus more on the painting look of brush strokes on the canvas like my inspired artist used. This landscape was challenging including how many green shades were in one picture but I think I could make it work if I went in with some random colors throughout the painting. |
