1. I have grown a learned a lot more techniques and art styles in this class. We had a variety of different projects so I got to try out new forms of art. One project that we did in the beginning of this class was collages. I really enjoyed this project and I learned a lot since I had never done a collage before. It taught me that color schemes and composition is very important in art. If something didn't fit quite right then it could throw off the whole piece. When I was making my final collage I had to cut out many different pieces of paper and move them around to figure out what fit and looked best overall. My collage turned out so different compared to what I had planned for it to look like but that just seemed to be part of this project. I like how there was no exact way for it to be and that I didn't have to plan as much but see what looks right where. I feel like this however is useful for all art though because I got to learn more about composition which is important in almost every art piece you make.
2. My art style focuses more on realism but I tried to try new things in this class. I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and make something that I would still be proud of. Being an artist is rewarding because you spend so much time on a piece and after putting in all the time and effort you have a nice finished piece of art. I love looking at my art over the years and seeing how I have grown. 3. One project I feel was the least successful was my scratchboard project. I did enjoy this project and It was fun using scratchboard for the first time. I do think that it could have used a lot more planning though. I think I had a decent idea but I just felt like my piece was missing a lot when I called it finished. I don't think that this was unsuccessful I just would choose something different to do next time instead of a whole field. 4. One sketchbook practice we did that I was glad about was the gesture drawings. I have been wanting to learn more about how to draw and paint people and I feel like this was really helpful. I got to watch useful videos that helped me better understand stance and proportions. Once we watched the videos I liked how we only spent a certain amount of time drawing a person. I spend so long trying to get it perfect when really that quick practice was super helpful. |
