Art 4 Final
I think this is a great group of pictures to show my art and progress over the years as an artist. In Art One 1 you can see my beginner's knowledge in the way I executed that piece. In the second picture taken from Art 2 you can see how I've improved in adding correct shading and highlights and creating a piece of art that will pull someones eye to it. I decided to include the third picture because even though it was not a completed favorite, it was the begining of me figuring out my own style in art and again learning better how to layer and add more to my art. The last piece I chose because it was a very recent painting I completed but you can see when looking at the first picture versus the last the growth in my art throughout my high school career.
Questions
1. I would say my style has grown to be a more gray dull tone color palette with some thought through meaningful painting. I typically try to use more texture and brush strokes so that when looking close you can see the handmade feel but when you step back it all comes to one. I think the most rewarding part of being an artist is just being able to sit down for a while and create something. A lot of people don't know how to express how they feel with a pencil and paper or a canvas and paint brush but I find it really rewarding that I can manage to put how I feel into a piece of art. I have really learned so much through art making. It has taught me so much that I use in my day to day life and I hope it continues on into my future. Art has taught me to look at everything differently and always look for possible opportunities to create something.
5. My favorite medium to work with was definitely oil. I started using oil a few years ago but just more recently I've really been trying to practice a lot more and gain more experience in how to use the medium. I love the way art looks when created with oil paints and I feel like I create most successful pieces using oils. I think the drying time is very convenient and the way the paint blends is just perfect. I can't wait to continue on practicing and getting better at oil painting.
7. My oil painting of the two faces merging together taught me so much in art. It was my first time doing a detailed face in oil paint and I really had to figure out and take my time on the proportions and also figuring out how I was going to make it look like the two faces were combined. I did many layers in the process of this painting going over previous layers because I taught myself how to correctly blend and use colors to create a somewhat realistic looking face. This painting also seemed to be the stem of my style of the darker color theme. It showed me a bit more of how to find my own style in art and even though it didn't turn out to be one of my favorite pieces it did teach me the most.
